Kekius Maximus casts Pepe as a laurel-crowned emperor ruling over Kekistan, protector of the 'kek' and a piece of internet mythology turned into a coin. It launched on December 14, 2024, lost its original creator almost immediately, then got picked up and kept alive by a new team. Its defining moment came on December 27, when Elon Musk renamed his X account Kekius Maximus and briefly adopted the persona, which sent the token flying and put it in front of the whole market. The imperial-Pepe bit outlasted the hype and became its own small movement. It stays one of the more eventful stories in the family.
